Our Commitment....

Communication Axess Ability Group is committed to providing the highest quality interpreting/transliterating services in the greater Houston area.  The goal of the Professional Development Program is to provide on-going education/training to interpreters based on self and consumer stated needs.  Training opportunities are offered to staff interpreters as wells as to independent contractors on a variety of topics.  Trainings will also be offered at a range of skill levels from a variety of presenters from around the nation.

Another goal of the Professional Development Program is to provide training to interpreters who are not yet certified through the state of Texas' certification body or RID, but are in pursuit of such.  CAAG will also be offering internships and trainings to recent graduates of ITPs/IPPs in order to help them transition into the community and the field of interpreting.

Communication Axess Ability Group is proud to announce our appointment by the Professional Development Committee of RID to sponsor Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for interpreters in the community.

Workshop Information:  (see Newsletter for more information)

The need for qualified and effective mentors in the interpreting field has greatly increased in recent years.  It is imperative that mentors have certain skills, tools and specific knowledge to provide a mentorship environment conducive to learning.  This workshop is geared toward those, both Deaf and hearing, who are currently providing mentoring opportunities and want to enhance their skills and for those who wish to become mentors.  Attendees will explore current theories and philosophies of mentoring, learn effective feedback techniques for encouraging critical thinking skills and learn about resources available to enhance the mentorship experience.  The skills and tools presented during the workshop will allow participants to provide effective mentoring to interpreters of all levels.
